Not as good as I had hoped

This book is required for our Chemistry of Materials class at school. I found this book to have a lot of information in it... but it was hard to follow. Many times the book did not explain what we were supposed to learn for the class. I thought it was a hard book to read

From a Material Science and Engineering major...

This book is full of very helpful figures, tables and examples. The format is very structured and cohesive in most chapters. Compared to other textbooks in the field of MSE, this is among the very best. There is no superfluous information or tidbits to maintain the readers interest, and for that I think it's hard to read. Also, it would be nice to see a new edition brought out with mention of how some of the science has evolved over the past 12 years and some fields of interest that are missing, namely the addition of thin-film science.

Can't profess love for this as it is a required textbook but it serves its purpose and is fine. Came on time and that is important.
